The French Wine Scholar program sets the industry standard as the most in-depth and comprehensive certification program devoted entirely to the wines of France. 

Tailored for dedicated wine aficionados and industry professionals, the FWS is your passport to understanding the nuanced appellations, viticultural marvels, art of winemaking, historic landmarks and rich traditions that make French wine a global benchmark.​

Graduates will receive a digital certificate, as well as the use of the FWS post-nominal initials, symbolizing advanced-level proficiency and industry-wide respect.​ A lapel pin can be purchased separately here.

  • 09/29 – Orientation via Zoom (6-6:30pm)

  • 10/06 – Fundamentals Part 1 and Alsace 

  • 10/13 - Fundamentals Part 2 and Savoie and Jura

  • 10/20 - Champagne

  • 10/27 - Loire

  • 11/03 - Bourgogne Part 1

  • 11/10 - Bourgogne Part 2 and Beaujolais

  • 11/17 - Bordeaux and South West

  • 11/24 - Rhône and Provence

  • 12/08 - Languedoc, Roussillon and Corsica

  • 01/05 – Exam

DETAILS:

Tuesdays In-person, 6-9pm (except first class zoom intro)

Instructor: Sharon McLean

Course Prerequisites: No prerequisite required but WSET Level 3 Award recommended.
Textbooks: Manual provided at first class.
Material and Supplies: 6 ISO tasting glasses or equivalent (not provided).
Student Evaluation: The examination consists of a 100 question multiple choice paper. A score of 75% or higher is required to pass.
