The French Wine Scholar program is a study and certification program providing current, accurate and in-depth information on the wines and wine regions of France.

Developed and administrated by the Wine Scholar Guild with the support of the French Ministry of Agriculture, this specialization program is designed for advanced students of wine, whether professionals or serious wine hobbyists.

The French Wine Scholar Program covers French wine law, grape varieties, viticulture, winemaking and all of the French wine regions including Jura, Savoie and Corsica. This core body of knowledge is important whether you sell wine, buy wine or teach about wine.

Individuals who follow this in-depth curriculum and pass the exam, earn the French Wine Scholar (FWS) postnominal which may be incorporated into a professional signature

Cru Consultancy is proud to bring this exciting new program to Western Canada.

The Italian Wine Scholar is offered in conjunction with the Wine Scholar Guild and due to the depth and complexity of Italian wines, the program has been split into two courses: Unit 1 and Unit 2. This course is only Unit 1, which covers Northern Italy. Unit 2 covers Central and Southern Italy and dates will be announced.
 
As with French Wine Scholar, this is an advanced program of study on a par with the detail required for the WSET Diploma for Italy and beyond what is covered in WSET level 3. The examination for each Unit will be a 100 question MC test with a 75 mark passing score. Candidates must pass both Unit 1 and Unit 2 in order to earn the title Italian Wine Scholar.

Join Mark Shipway for the the Wine Scholar Guild's Master Level Champagne Masterclass.

This is a one day intensive advanced level course and is only available to graduates or current attendees of French Wine Scholar program. Fifteen champagnes covering a range of styles will be tasted during the day and the intricacies of Champagne production and terroir will be discussed in detail.

The day will end with a final prep session for those attempting the Champagne Master Level exam.
